VEGA, Diane Marie 53, At peace with our Lord. Diane gracefully joined her father, Victor Vega, and brother, Joseph Vega, in Heaven on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, Amelia Vega; brother, Donald Vega; sister, JoAnn Vega; 3 children; granddaughters; niece, and nephews. Diane was born in Buffalo, NY, on Dec. 30, 1956. She obtained her bachelors degree from Stony Brook University, where she majored in Biology. She made Tampa her home in 1985. Diane had a zest for life and when she smiled her whole face illuminated happiness. She was an avid runner, having completed the New York Marathon, Disney Marathon, Boston Marathon, and Washington D.C. Marathon. Diane chose to be a cyclist, commuting between her places of employment at FedEx, Macys and all her beloved destinations she loved to visit daily. She loved the freedom of cycling and the feeling of the wind in her face and sun on her tan soft skin. Diane delighted in her children and strived to be the best mother she could be. She taught them that life wasn't about materialistic possessions but the small, kind gestures. She cherished every moment of the three months she was able to spend with her new granddaughter, and her weekly lunch dates with her mother. Filled with compassion and interest in others, she was a mentor and inspiration to her fellow recovering alcoholics. She had a passion for helping others even when the day did not bear any excess time for herself. She put everyone before herself no matter who they were. She loved the lifestyle in South Tampa, and wouldn't have been happier living anywhere else. She enjoyed trying new restaurants and eating gourmet foods. She will forever be remembered for her freely given, beautiful smile. Her family and friends will celebrate her life with a gathering at one of her favorite places - Ballast Point Park - at 5 pm.
