in Knowlton Twp, Warren County, New Jersey. William died 12-Jan-1850 in Knowlton Township , Warren County , N.J. William Cooke was born at the home of his parents, near the Elisha Cooke homestead on the Stage Road. He was given the name of William which had been borne by the eldest son for four generations, beginning with William Cooke, born at Plymouth , Massachusetts , October 5, 1683 and which was continued to William's son William who died at the age of 12 and a second son William who also died young. William Cooke was a farmer and he probably remained with his father on the farm until his marriage, when he set up a home for himself about three miles from his birthplace. The farm was to the east of the Blairstown-Hope road, three miles south of Blairstown, three miles from Marksboro, and three miles from Hope. It lay between Silver Lake and Cooke's Pond (also known as Mud Pond). This farm remained in the
ownership of the Cookes from the time of its purchase in 1800 until the property was sold in 1972 by Walter Samuel Cooke, William Cooke's great-grandson.
