She attended Castillero Middle School and Leland High School, graduating in 1990. After graduating from the University of San Francisco in 1994, she moved to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
While in Cabo San Lucas, Cheryl was involved with working in the hotel industry and property management of luxury estates. Most recently, she was employed by Querencia, the first Tom Fazio golf course to be constructed outside of the United States and the only private golf club in the Los Cabos area. She was involved in all business and administrative aspects in Querencia.
Cheryl was also active in teaching women that they had rights and obligations, including teaching women to drive and to forgo old wives' tales regarding pregnancy and child rearing. Her independence and strength as a woman made her a role model for her family and friends.
Cheryl was a ray of sunshine whose smile would light up a room. She showed us with her strength, determination, and love for living life to the fullest that you could achieve any goal once you made up your mind.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Joaquin de la Torre and daughter, Karina Ann de la Torre. She was the beloved daughter of Neil and Terri Hamm and Bob Chambers. Granddaughter of Mary Russell and Lenna Krupp, sister to Eric Chambers, Tracy Hansen and Christine Johnson. Auntie to Samantha and Sierra, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cheryl touched everybody who knew her and will be missed by many friends in the United States and Mexico.
