Daughter of Abraham & Elizabeth (Enslow) Virgin born in Scioto Co., OH on February 12, 1830. She married William Brown on January 7, 1849 in Mason Co., IL. They had seven children; Ann Elizabeth, Virginia Caroline, Harriet Angeline, William Henry, Emma Adela, Edward Kinzey and Charles E. In the 1882-1883 the family moved to Dickinson Co., KS and lived in the Willowdale area. For at least part of her life, Louisa was blind. Lousia passed away on October 26, 1888 and is buried in Prairie Mound cemetery near Solomon.

IN MEMORIAM

Mrs. Louisa J. Brown was born February 12th, 1830 in Scioto County, Ohio, moved to Mason County, Illinois, on January 7th, 1849. She came to Dickinson County, Kansas, with her family in January, 1883, and died at their home in Willowdale Township October 26th, 1888, aged 58 years, 8 months, and 14 days, leaving her husband, three sons and three daughters to mourn their loss but her eternal gain.

Eight motherless children were cared for by now motionless hands, and shared equally with her own.

Mother Brown was a real christian lady, and has won a host of friends who now bear testimony to her noble character. The bereaved have the sympathy of the entire community. The remains were laid to rest in the Solomon City Cemetery. F.L.S.
