RAMONA DOLORES ALDER was born to Einer and Maria (Gustafson) Carlson in the Oakland Community Hospital, Oakland, Nebraska, on July 25, 1930. She passed away on December 20, 2010, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home after a sudden diagnosis of cancer.

After finishing High School in Oakland, Mona moved to Toledo, Ohio where she lived for more than 40 years. She married Richard Alder on December 29, 1949 at the Chapel In The Gardens at Angola, Indiana. They lived their entire married life in Toledo, Ohio and raised two children, Douglas and Jeffrey. In Toledo, Mona worked as an office manager for The Lathrup Corporation and then for Toledo Scale. She was widowed in 1984, retired in 1993, and returned to Oakland in 1996.

Mona had a great love of music and was a very active performer of piano and organ. She became president of the Toledo Organ Club “The Great Escape” in the early 1990s, and later in life, played at events, nursing homes, and churches in Oakland and the surrounding communities. Ten days before her passing, she could be found playing Christmas carols for the other residents at Oakland Heights Nursing home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and sisters, Edith Whitman and Florence Rewinkle.

She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law; three grandchildren; and sister.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Thursday, December 23, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.
VISITATION: Thursday, December 23, 2010, 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Church.
BURIAL: Oakland Cemtery, at a later date.
