SW1 Christopher Robert Eckman, age 34, of Gulfport,MS formerly of Bensalem, PA, passed away, on October 10, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert George Eckman; his grandmother, Maryann Young; and his grandparents, Gladys and Robert W. Eckman.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Eckman; his daughter, Holly Marie; his mother and stepfather, Katherine and Kenneth Strauss; his stepmother, Beatrice Eckman and family; his sister, Wendy Tynan and her daughter, Dilan; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Christopher served for thirteen years in the U.S. Navy Seabees, most recently as Steelworker First Class Petty Officer. He was honored to serve many tours overseas and was very accomplished in his career. He was very creative and enjoyed working with his hands. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending family time with those he loved.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Arlington Cemetery chapel, 2900 State Rd, Drexel, PA 19026, followed by a graveside service with full military honors.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 24 at 11:00 AM at the Naval Construction Battallion Center Chapel, Gulfport, MS.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Navy Marine Corp Relief Society, 5301 Snead St, Bldg 30, Gulfport, MS 39501 in memory of SW1 Christopher Robert Eckman.
