Veda Charlotte Wagenblast, 85, Holton, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at a Holton nursing home.

She was born June 9, 1916, in Muscotah, the daughter of John and Bertha Euler Schober. She graduated from Whiting High School and lived most her life in the Whiting community. She moved to Holton in 1990.

Mrs. Wagenblast was a 4-H leader for the Whiting Beavers for many years and a member of the Community Booster Club south of Whiting. She also was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton, United Methodist Women and the Crusader Sunday school class. She was past superintendent of the Sunday school junior department.

She married Clarence F. Wagenblast on June 22, 1941, in Whiting. He died Feb. 27, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents John and Bertha Euler Schober; a sister, Mildred Davidson; and an infant brother, Ivan Schober.

Survivors include two daughters, a brother, seven grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery north of Whiting. Mrs. Wagenblast will lie in state after 11 a.m. today at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
