Tussy - O. M. "JUNIOR" GARRETT, JR., 80, of Tussy, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, in Norman.
Services were to be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church at Healdton, with Bro. James Robinson, Bro. Dwight Hawkins, and Bro. Milton Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Katie Cemetery in Katie.
Junior was born April 16, 1925 to Oscar Marion Sr. and Iva Clark Garrett, both of Tussy. He was married to Wanda Bray on Feb. 22, 1947 in Dallas, Texas.
Junior was an elder in the First Christian Church in Healdton, where he taught Sunday School for several years. He graduated from Fox High School and then joined the Navy Air Force, serving during World War II.
In 1946, he went to work in the oil field for Cox & Hammond, which later became Graham Resources. He retired in 1992 after 46 years of service. He was a Boy Scout leader and was a fixture at Fox Schools, serving on the board and announcing Fox High School football games. He was also a member of the IOOF Lodge and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife Wanda of the home; two sons, Don and wife Brenda Garrett, Okla. City, and Steven and wife RoseMary Garrett, Brazoria, Texas; a daughter, Pam and husband Gary Nichols of Ratliff City; a sister, Charlene Thurman, Wichita Falls, Tex.; six grand-children, Brandon Stewart, Heather Garrett, Travis Garrett, Garrett Nichols, Nick and Monica Zyzak; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Stella Robinson.
Bearers will be Temple Grundy, Billy Branch, Donnie Turner, Adren Poteet, David Bingman and Harold Rozell.
