Doris was born Nov. 18, 1921, in a farmhouse in Kalmar Township, to David and Estelle (Holmes) Kunz. She married Howell Purdue on July 30, 1940, in Preston. Doris was a homemaker and lived her entire life in the Douglas area, including the last 60 years in a house built by her husband on the family farm.
Doris enjoyed reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her beloved cats.
Doris is survived by four sons, Richard (Cheryl) Purdue of rural Byron, Glenn (Sandy) Purdue of Minneapolis, Ronald Purdue of rural Byron and Jerry (Brenda) Purdue of Wentzville, Mo.; six grandchildren, Annette Purdue, Mary Purdue, Chris Purdue, Jarrett Purdue, Shannon Allen and Jacob Purdue; and seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Kessler, Sam Allen, Morgan Allen, Claire Purdue, Catherine Purdue, Caleb Purdue and Jaxson Purdue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howell in 1985, her parents, and one sister, Irene Burke.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place N.W. in Rochester. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery near Douglas in the spring.
