Wilmer Fiett Nester, 83, of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Pen Argyl, went home to Heaven on Friday, March 30, 2007. Wilmer was born in Vera Cruz, on October 9, 1923. He was the fourth of the 14 children born to Elmer C. and Mabel Fegely Nester. Wilmer graduated from Emmaus High School in 1942. He served in the Army in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. After the war, Wilmer attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College. He was president of Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society and the Business Education Club and was a member of Pi Omega Pi Professional Business Education Fraternity and Phi Sigma Pi. He graduated in 1949 with a B.S. degree in Business Education. He received his Masters of Arts degree in Business Education from New York University in 1953, where he was a member of Delta Pi Epsilon Business Education Fraternity. Wilmer taught business education at Pen Argyl High School for 37 years, retiring in 1986. For many years, he was chairman of the Business Education Department. He was faculty manager of athletics for 12 years and was president of the Lehigh-Northampton Interscholastic Athletic League for four years. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church of Leesburg, Fla., and a former member of Grace United Methodist Church, Pen Argyl. For many years, he served on the administrative board of Grace Church, and as a trustee of the Pocono/Slate Belt Youth for Christ. He was active in community activities, including AARP, Meals on Wheels, and the Northampton Bicentennial Celebration Committee of 1976. An avid traveler, he visited many countries on six continents of the world. His hobbies included golf (with a hole-in-one in 1983), bird watching, and fishing. Wilmer will be remembered by family and friends as a man of few words with a loving heart. Survivors: Wife, the former, Lois Datesman, whom he married August 26, 1950; son, Larry and Sharon of Eustis, Fla.; four brothers, Norman and Stella of Macungie, E. Vernon and Florence, Raymond and Ethel, both of Allentown, Kermit and Jean of Quakertown; four sisters, Miriam Frankenfield, Annabelle Buss, Mae Wentz, all of Allentown, and Alma Miller of Bethlehem; many nieces and nephews, and great and great-great-nieces and nephews; siblings, Linwood, Melvin, Donald, Merle, and Lorraine died previously. Services: Will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church, 404 E. Mountain Ave., Pen Argyl, with the Rev. Larry Mark officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. till time of services at the church. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Bangor. The Guerro & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 126 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Pen Argyl, is in charge of the arrangements.
