Walter Clark Bird was the son of M. Josephine McClellan & William Wellington Bird. He traveled with his parents to Oregon in 1885, residing in Dallas. He lived in Dallas until 1944 when he moved to Salem. He was a carman helper on the Southern Pacific Railroad and also worked for Willamette Industries. He married Clara Jennie Bell Nov. 29, 1905 in Dallas, Polk county, Oregon. They had one daughter.
