Janet Mae Page (nee Flowers), 83, of Elyria, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain. She was born May 23, 1930 in South Amherst, where she was raised, graduating from South Amherst High School in the class of 1948. She lived in Vermilion, Kentucky, and Florida but Elyria had been her home for the last 21 years.
She was employed as a public accountant for Nick Zunich, CPA. She also worked at several auto dealers as an accountant. Janet, along with her late husband Ralph, owned and operated the Solid Oak Country Furniture and Miniatures. She was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ in South Amherst. Janet served as the organist. She was a member on various committees and was a great supporter of the Sunday School classes. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Survivors include her daughters, Debbie (Bob) Lewis of North Ridgeville, Deanne Smith of Pinckney, Michigan; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Karen (Gaylord) Martin of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Ralph Roscoe Page on October 16, 2002; her daughter, Kimberly Sanford in 2004; her sister, Donna Riddle; and her parents, Alfred and Alice Flowers (nee Hunt).
Friends may call Tuesday, March 25, 2014, from 10 A.M., until the time of service at 11 A.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Reverend Paul Eaton, Pastor of St. John United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
