Dan Douglas Dulin, Sr. passed away on March 16, 2014. He was born in Henderson, Texas, on October 20, 1932 to Dollie and Dottie Dulin. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1950 and continued his education at LSU.
In his earlier years he played football for the Houston Flyers , the Pasadena Pistols and the Houston Oilers as well he played professional baseball in Japan for several years.
Dan began singing in Henderson at a young age and was involved in several quartets and continued his love of music throughout his life. He was inducted into the Texas CMA Hall of Fame for Gospel Music in 2002. He is known as "The Old Man" for his many recordings.
Dan served in the Korean war for 4 years and served in the Harris County Sheriff's department for 32 years. He was a member of several organizations, among them were the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo where he performed as a professional rodeo clown for 16 years, The Tomball Trail Riders, The Hole in the Wall Gang and the Harris County Sheriff's Mounted Posse Drill Team.
Dan was preceded in death by his son, Dan Douglas Dulin, Jr. He is survived by his wife Nancy Dulin, his children Vicky Dulin, Rebecca Girards, Beverly Wells, Danny Kolb and 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Cavazos Funeral Home, 2000 Cypress Landing Dr, at 10:30 AM with the funeral service at 12:30 PM. There will be a graveside ceremony immediately following at the Veterans Administration Cemetery at 10567 Veterans Memorial Dr.
Carrying Dan to his final resting place will be Danny Kolb, John Girards, Timothy Wells, Jacob Wells, Brian Seidel, Victor Adams and James Brown.
