Darl grew up in Springfield and graduated from Central High School. He knew at a young age he wanted to be an auctioneer. He attended The Reisch American School of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa at the age of 14. His love of auctioneering and his "never met a stranger" personality led him to become one of the best and most respected in the business.
Darl received his nickname as a teenager due to his motorcycle trick riding and racing. His friends in the Heart of the Ozarks Motorcycle Club named him "Lucky" and it stayed with him a lifetime.
At the age of 18, Lucky married the love of his life and soul mate, Dorothy Clough. This began a wonderful 60 years together filled with much happiness and many adventures.
He is survived by four children; Darl W. Cameron and wife Regina; Susan Love and husband Nick; Teresa McCormack; Karen Stapp and husband David; 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; a brother Charlie Cameron and wife Carolyn; a brother-in-law, Don Clough and wife Sandy; 3 nephews and a niece.
Lucky was a man of service. He was in the Army for several years and was a Shriner for almost 40 years. He loved his family, Harley motorcycles, hunting pheasant & quail, and caring for his dogs. His family was always first priority in his life. He was the strength and foundation of the Cameron clan as it grew. His friends and family experienced his kindness, humor, and generosity every day of his life. His infectious smile complimented the ever-present gleam in his bright blue eyes. He brought sunshine into everyone's day!
He will be forever in our hearts and in our cars as we remember to "Drive Careful".
Burial in Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield.
