Virginia Ehlers, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at home in Kirkwood PA with loving family at her side.

She was born on August 9, 1927 in Annapolis, Maryland to parents Albert C. and Olga Elizabeth (Maloney) Davidson. She was raised in Harbeson, Delaware and attended schools in Georgetown, DE.

Following her October 4, 1947 marriage to John W. Ehlers, they resided in Elsmere DE, Fairfax DE and West Chester PA. Virginia also resided in Lewes DE before moving to Kirkwood PA. She was employed by Chester County (PA) Head Start, Simplex Time Recorder Co. in West Chester PA, Sea Horse Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach DE, and was a medical transcriptionist at a medical practice in Lewes DE.

Virginia is survived by three sons and a daughter: Eric and Sharen Ehlers, The Villages FL; Craig and Jackie Ehlers, Pacific Palisades CA; Lisa and Joseph Campbell, Kirkwood PA; and Kent Ehlers, Quarryville PA, a sister Joan Lewis of Middletown DE, niece Beth Robinson, and nephew Adam Weber, both of Middletown, DE. Virginia was blessed with eight grandchildren: Eric Justin Ehlers, Amanda Smolinski, Jeffrey and Parker Ehlers, Mark Campbell, Jessica Ehlers, Ryan and Mallory Ehlers, and four great-grandchildren.

Virginia was a member of Oxford (PA) United Methodist Church. She was assisted in her last weeks by staff from Brandywine River Valley Home Health and Hospice, Oxford PA. The family greatly appreciates their comfort and support.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday March 26, 2014 at Oxford United Methodist Church, 18 Addison St, Oxford PA with graveside burial to follow at 1:00 PM on Thursday March 27, 2014 at Beaverdam Cemetery in Harbeson, Delaware.
