In 1930 he, his brother Bruce R Sunshine, and mother were living in Manhattan, New York.
Howard served his country in the Navy, in WII from April 15, 1943 to November 9, 1945 His brother, Bruce died in WWII in Italy, serving his country.
Howard was in hotel management in New York City. Met his wife Barbara at the Plaza Hotel, where he was in management, and she was the catering manager. He grew a rooftop garden atop their high rise apartment building, which caused an article to be written in the New York Times, with a photo of Howard with his tall corn atop the skyscraper. They loved to entertain, attend musicals and search for antiques.
They moved to Dallas, Texas and were living on Turtle Creek, until they started their family. After their firstborn, Allen was three, they bought and renovated a home in North Dallas. Howard was running a management consultant business, putting investors together, which he did for many years, from 1973 on until his heart attack and he had to retire.
They loved giving lovely dinner parties, gardening, enjoying the children and their activities, and a nice glass of wine by the fire at 5 pm nightly. They loved their friends and family. You were always welcome at the Sunshine house. They treasured their many friends in Dallas.
