On the 1910 Census, he was listed as a mill man in a saw mill in Morris County, Texas living with his wife Estelle and daughter Isabel. Clopton was originally in the saw mill business and later owned several lumber yards in East Texas. He died of pneumonia. He had 5 brothers (William, Emmett, Thomas, Edward, and Samuel) and 2 sisters (Vesta and Quida).
