Martha I. Peters, 91, of New Oxford, died Friday, November 5, 2014 at Gettysburg Hospital.

Born on Tuesday, December 19, 1922 in Latimore Twp., Adams County, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary Katherine Shultz Weaver. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ray C. “Pete” Peters, who died in 2012; a sister, Hilda Myers; two brothers, George and John Weaver; and a son-in-law, Donald Hippensteel.

Mrs. Peters served as a waitress for many years having worked at the former Hanover Diner for 18 years and retired in 1985 from the Family Restaurant on the Center Square in New Oxford. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hanover.

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy A. Hippensteel of Abbottstown and Sonja L. Williams of New Oxford; four sons, Richard E. Keller of Norfolk, VA, Jack L. Peters and his companion, Jennifer, of New Oxford, Donald R. Peters and his fiancée, Karen, of Abbottstown, and Robert A. Peters and his wife, Cherie, of New Oxford; a brother, Clyde D. Weaver of Hanover; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 1 pm Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with The Rev. Gregory A. Rapp officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
