COTTONDALE Rev Larry Dwayne Barger age 56 of Cottondale, died March 20,2014, at home. Services will be 2 pm Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Old Salem Baptist Church with Rev C.M. Langford officiating.Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Old Salem Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Barger, his sister, Kim Barger, loving grandparents, aunts , and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Dockery Barger, daughters, Kimberli Barger Fondren (Steven) and Heather Barger O'Bryant (Chad); father, L.D. Barger, stepmother, Annette Barger, grandchildren, Olivia Morgan Fondren, Braden Tyler Fondren, and Liam Davis O'Bryant.
Many of you know him as Brother Larry. He was the pastor of Old Salem Baptist Church for 24 1/2 years. He was also the owner of Barger and Turner Waterproofing. Some may know for the hours he spent working with young people on the soft ball field. We know him as our father, husband, grandfather, and son. We know him as the person who not only proclaimed Christ from the pulpit, but lived the life wherever he went. He has always pointed people to Christ as the One who can handle everything. So as our hearts break, we will look to Christ and carry on the legacy.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Tubbs, Jason Turner, Jimmy Green, Bruce Smelley, Jason Wideman, Freddie Patterson, Chris Barnett, Steven Fondren, Jessie James, and Chad O'Bryant.
