Daughter of James Davey and Anne Dates. Her father died in 1899 in Victory, Cayuga, New York following a horse kick in the abdomen. At the time of the 1900 census, siblings Bertha, John, Clara, Judson and Grace were all inmates of the Asylum for Destitute Children, Cayuga County. Grace remained there until sometime after the 1910 census. By 1915, she was out of the institution and employed as a servant in the home of a local family.
In 1918 she married George Baldwin, who predeceased her in 1943 after 25 years of marriage. She married Edward Bidewell as a 2nd husband in 1954.
