IRVIN E. GARDNER

Irvin E. Gardner, 65, died Sunday at his home in Newport, R.D. He was a member of the Newport Social Order of Owls.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Effie Gardner; five daughters, Mrs. James Hockenberry, Mrs. Sylvester Zeigler and Mrs. Charles Baker, all of New Bloomfield, R.D., and Mrs. Joseph Camel and Mrs. Raymond Baker, both of Newport; six sons, Lawrence, Otha, Howard and Auguest, all of Newport, and David and Arthur, of New Bloomfield, and a sister, Mrs. Edward Winger, of Harrisburg.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Kell funeral home, 33 South Second street, Newport, the Rev. T. V. Miller, East Newport Church of God, officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

October 11, 1901 in Perry County, Blain, Pennsylvania

1940 Census:
It can be assumed that Irvin and Effie were separated at this time period; she was living with some of her children in Oliver Township in Perry County and Irvin was living alone also in the same township.

1942 WWII Registration:
Irvin's wife, Effie is not listed as his contact person.

Perry County Court Records:
Effie was the Executor for Irvin's estate upon his death, but in December 1947 she transferred her authority to one of the sons, Arthur Gardner.

June 2014 - Contributor, Tom Loy searched the entire cemetery and could not find a marker for Irvin. This agrees with a 1958 note that the cemetery has on record.
