Bolton D. (Bo) Bruyere, Jr., 91 years of age and a resident of Snyder for 57 years passed away on March 17, 2014. He was born in Waco, TX on May 21, 1922, the only child of his mother, Dorothy Douglas, and the first child of six born to his father, Bolton D. Bruyere, Sr. He graduated from Gladewater High School in 1940 and attended Texas A&M before enlisting in the service. Mr. Bruyere wed the former Jimmie Jeff Gilliland in Kilgore, TX on August 2, 1942 and the two were married for 52 years. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1994.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served three and a half years in the Troop Carrier Command of the U.S. Air Force. Shortly after his discharge from the military, Bo went to work for Sun Pipe Line Company. In 1957 Sun transferred him to Snyder and he remained in their employment until his retirement in 1984. He loved Snyder and never wanted to call any other place home. After retiring he and Jimmie enjoyed trips all over the country, including many of the National Parks. Memories of those trips brought him joy all of his life. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. For many years he gave his poker friends a run for their money every Thursday. Since 2009 his days have been brightened by his loving caregiver, Alexa Flores. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bruyere is survived by one son, Rick Bruyere and his wife Lyne, of Ruidoso Downs, NM; by one daughter, Judy Acker and her husband Rodney, of Dallas, TX; by five granddaughters: Jessica Mott and her husband Eric, of Chapin, SC, Emily Yeater and her husband Darryle, of Lubbock, TX, Amy Carpinello and her husband James, of Los Angeles, CA, Shelley Barraza and her husband Eduardo of Los Angeles, CA, and Rachel Acker of New York, NY; by one grandson: Sam Acker of Brooklyn, NY; by five great grandsons: Tanner and Camden Mott, Bryson and Brantley Yeater and Jack Carpinello; and by three great granddaughters: Ava Carpinello, Madeline Barraza and Kinley Yeater. He is also survived by one sister, Marilyn Brunkhorst of Dallas, TX and two brothers, Robert Bruyere of Longview, TX and Milton Bruyere of Shreveport, LA.

At his request, there will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held for Mr. Bruyere at a later date. Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice. The family is grateful to all of Bo's friends and co-workers, and to the entire Snyder community for all you did to help make his life here long and happy.
