Myrtle Lucille Boeckman Bennett
1921 - 2014

Early Life | Education: Myrtle was born June 7, 1921, in Wilsonville, Oregon, the daughter of Ernest and Theresa Boeckman. She was raised in Wilsonville and graduated from Oregon City High School in 1939.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: On November 26, 1944, she married Stuart "Stu" Bennett, the love of her life. They spent most of their lives in Stevensville on a farm up Middle Burnt Fork Road. They did a lot of fishing, camping and bowling together over the years. Stuart "Stu" passed away 27 years ago and Myrtle moved into town. She continued to live alone, until the day she died, but she enjoyed having lots of family around her. She loved playing cards and games and would continue to play well into the night as long as someone was willing to play with her. She loved being involved in Senior Center activities. She loved to cook and bake desserts. She was famous for her sour cream and raisin pie! She loved gardening and canned everything she could. She always had a beautiful yard with flowers that she kept immaculate. She even mowed her own yard in her eighties. She loved music and played the piano in a band called the Burnt Fork Trio. They played every Saturday night at the Fort Owen Inn for 12 years and drew crowds, from all over the valley to Missoula. Then in her later years (eighties), she got to reunite with Don Parks from the band, and they played together at birthday dinners at the Senior Center. Myrtle was a hard worker in her lifetime. She used to go out and run the mower, the rake and the baler during haying season. She also raised chickens and sold eggs. She made her own clothes and sewed all of the dresses that she wore out to all of the dances on Saturday nights. Myrtle met the Lord in 1978, and loved to watch the Christian preachers on TV. She loved the Lord and told people so. She also watched Fox News and kept up on all that was going on in the world. She stood up for herself when she needed to; it was that strong will that kept her going. She would do anything for each and every one of her loved ones and they all knew it. They knew how much she loved them and she always put her family first. Myrtle Lucille Boeckman Bennett, of Stevensville, Montana, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 8, 2014. She passed away at her home, 12 days after learning that she had cancer, at the age of 92.
Family Message: "We will cherish memories of all of our card and game nights, and all of our dinners together around the family table. We all loved her dearly and will miss our fun times together, but we know we will see her again someday in heaven."
