Helen was born April 16, 1924 in Jones County to Clyde and Johnnie Pritchard. She was a lifetime resident of Jones County. She attended school in Tuxedo and Stamford, graduating from Stamford High School in 1941. Helen married Roy Craig Stephens on June 8, 1941 in Jones County. To this union, three sons were born, Ron, Bob and Keith. Helen was a homemaker and assisted her husband with their farming operation. Craig was called to serve his country during WW II and was stationed at Fort Hood. Helen relocated with Craig to Fort Hood and went to work. In 1945 Craig was assigned to serve a tour in Japan and Helen returned to Jones County. Helen worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses prior to her employment at Framers Coop Gin in Stamford, where she worked for 35 years, retiring in 1997. She is a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamford.
Survivors include her three sons, Ron Stephens and wife Connie of Fredericksburg, TX, Bob Stephens and wife Patsy of Abilene, TX, and Keith Stephens and wife Vicki of Stamford, TX; one sister, Cherry Crowley and husband Jerry of Mesquite, TX; 9 grandchildren, Dewayne Stephens and wife Teresa, Scott Stephens and wife Sammie, Joel Hargus, Shay Webb and husband Andy, Bryan Stephens, Jeromy Stephens and wife Karla, Justin Stephens and wife Anna, Josh Stephens and wife Kari and Jordan Stephens; twelve great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Johnnie Pritchard her husband of 68 years, Roy Craig Stephens, 1 great granddaughter, Jaycie Stephens, 2 brothers, Edwin and Bill Pritchard, 1 sister, Clydean Phillips, and 2 infant sisters, Sharon and Jeannie Pritchard.
