Leading figure in the Cherokee Nation; a conductor on the Indian Removal Trail, in 1838, he was a Judge of the Canadian District, and Colonel of Drew's Regiment, CSA, Cherokee. Succumbed to lung fever on the last of Civil War days, journeying homeward. Buried at his indianland estate at Bayou Manard. Husb. of Eliza Acorn; parents of Jane Drew (A.Crittendon); married Charlotte Scales; parents of Judge John Taylor Drew; and married Martha Fields[grdaugher of Chief Richard Fields]; parents of George Fields Drew, d. 1860; and Ruth A. Drew (J.M.Ross). Son of Charles Driew/Drieux and Tsi-go-a, Cherokee.
