Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Helen Grace Orton was born Jan. 23, 1923, on a farm in Washington Township, Sioux County, Iowa, to parents, John and Marie (Swanson) Orton. She attended rural Sioux County schools. She lived all her life in the Sioux County area, except for seven years in Gresham, Ore. She was employed at the Hawarden Council Oaks Grocery Store for 25 years.
She married Alfred Falk on June 13, 1953. Alfred passed away Dec. 13, 1981.
She was baptized at the Ireton (Iowa) Methodist Church and was a member of Hawarden United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, friends, neighbors and yard work. Her hobby was making homemade "Falk-Mart" greeting cards for all occasions.
Survivors include two sisters, Frances Christensen of Beresford, S.D., and Leona Smizer of Hawarden; a brother and his wife, John and Marilyn Orton of Hawarden; a brother-in-law, Harlan Falk of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Edmunds of Hawarden; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother-in-law, Dale Edmunds.
