James Mitchell Myers, age 80 of Ulman, died February 23, 2004, at the Miller County Care Center.

He was born in the Ulman area on April 7, 1923, a son of Calvin Phillip and Mary Russell (Hendricks) Myers. On February 22, 1945, in Olathe, Kansas, he was married to Helen Louise Apperson, who preceded him in death on March 3, 1999.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Kaiser VFW and the Iberia Masonic Lodge #410 A.F. & A.M. He worked for civil service at Ft. Leonard Wood until his retirement. During the 1970's, he served as Miller County Commissioner for eight years. He was a member of Ulman Christian Church.

Survivors include: one son, Jimmy Joe Myers and wife, Peggy of Ulman; one brother, Don Myers of Eldon; one sister, Mary Martin of Owensville; one granddaughter, Morgan Keeth and husband, Jason of Ulman; one grandson, Dusty Myers and wife, Stephanie of Ulman; and two great-granddaughters, Ariel and Ashton Myers.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia.
