Judie A. Lunsford, of Phipps Creek, formerly of Weaverville, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 after a brief illness. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late J.D. and Fannie Mae Evans Arrington and the wife of Calvin Lunsford. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Polly Ann Arrington. Judie worked for a number of years at Roses in Weaverville and North Merrimon Avenue where everyone lovingly called her "Granny". She was an avid fan of the Carolina Tarheels and loved watching racing. Surviving is her loving husband of 40 years, Calvin Lunsford; three daughters: Jackie Cole and husband, Don, of Honea Path, SC, Teresa Jobin of Marion and Caroline Sammons and husband, Wayne, of Weaverville; sister, Pat Overstreet and husband, Gene, of Belvedere, SC; two brothers: Jack Arrington of California and David Arrington and wife, Joannie, of Salisbury; eight granchildren: Elizabeth, Paula, Megan, Brittany, Krysten, Kayla, Nicholas and Hope; two great-grandchildren: Lily and Zachary. A memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, February 13th at Clarks Chapel United Methodist Church of Weaverville. Rev. Gray Little will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
