Bear River Telephone, Wednesday, May 1, 1901:
Arthur Shaw, aged 25 (single), Orbin Elliott, 18 (single), Charles Stanton, aged 17 (single) and Wm Powell, Jr., (married) aged 31, were victims of one of the saddest drowning accidents that has ever occurred in this county which took place in St Mary's Bay this afternoon off Central Grove, Long Island within 25 yards of the shore. The 4 men were hauling a mooring into the boat when it capsized.
