Jane Williams was the daughter of Hiram Williams and Elizabeth "Betsy" Clifton Williams. Her father died at the Battle of Emucfau, and her mother remarried in Wilson County, Tennessee on April 1, 1815 to Thomas Crawford Williams who was possibly a brother of Hiram. Her mother and her step-father can be found in the 1860 U.S. Federal Census in Fayette County, Illinois, and it is likely they both died shortly after the 1860 census.

Jane married William Henry Hutchison on Mar 23, 1820 in Wilson County, Tennessee. They had 15 children, almost all of whom followed them in their journey to settle in Jefferson County, Illinois in the 1850's and 1860's.

Although there is no marker with Jane's name on it, the stone to the left of her husband William's gravestone marks her burial place.
