Garland (Gary) Homer Hutchinson

Funeral services for Gary Hutchinson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday March 16th, 2014 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers in Pineville, Louisiana, with Reverend Bart Walker officiating.

Visitation will be observed at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Pineville from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Saturday March 15, 2014 and will continue on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Gary, 78, passed from this life to be with the lord on Friday, March 14th at his home with his family at his side.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Gary was born in Ashland Kentucky on July 24th, 1935, and grew up in Indiana. The Air Force brought him to Louisiana where he met his wife of 55 years, Gloria Jean Hutchinson.

Gary was a Mason for 50 years this August. He was a past Master at Gordy Lodge #133F & AM in Lecompte, Louisiana, and a member of Abe Hinson Lodge F & AM in Alexandria, Louisiana, a 32 second degree Scottish rite Mason in the Shreveport consistory, a member of the El Karubah Temple in Shreveport, and a member of the Cenla Shrine Club in Alexandria. Gary was also a lifetime member of the VFW.

Gary retired from the United States Air force in 1975 as a senior master sergeant after receiving many honors while serving his country for 21 years. After retiring, he pursued his love for guns by opening his own gun shop known as Hutchinson Guns and Accessories.

Gary enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Camping, and anything that was outdoors related. His fishing camp at Toledo Bend was his favorite getaway, where he enjoyed time with his family and friends. He spent numerous years coaching baseball and football, and was devoted to his family and friends his entire life.

Gary was a member of Kingsville Baptist Church in Pineville.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother Edna Barker, Father Homer Hutchinson, and Brother Bert Hutchinson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Jean Hutchinson, Sons Steve and wife Angie Hutchinson of Opelousas, Kevin and his wife Shawn Hutchinson of Ball, Granddaughters Haley and Lacey Hutchinson, and numerous Nieces, Nephews, and lifelong friends.

Pallbearers will be David Rosedale, Bruce Legate, Mike Richey, Darryle Kitterlin, Derek Kitterlin, and Mike Kitterlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Basil Whitaker, Richard Hailey, Jim Gott, Lyndall Kitterlin, Tommy Sims, and Charlie Weber.

The family would like to thank the doctors and Nurses of Ochsner's Hospital in Baton Rouge and the Nurses and caregivers of St. Joseph Hospice care in Alexandria for taking such good care of our Husband and Dad.
