MRS. GARNETT IS SUMMONED IN FAIRFIELD

End Comes Suddenly At Home of Her Daughter, Mrs. C. M. Graham

Mrs. Virginia Garnett, past 84 years of age, died at 8:30 o'clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. M. Graham, in Fairfield. Mrs. Garnett had been a resident of Fairfield for six years and for the past eight years had made her home in Manchester, Ia., with her daughter Mrs. E. W. Seeley. Mrs. Garnett was quite well known in Fairfield, and had made many friends in this city.

She came to Fairfield a little over a month ago to visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Graham, and owing to the change in her physical condition, her daughter, Mrs. Seeley, came to Fairfield to assist in caring for her. The end came suddenly today, caused by a second stroke. The body was taken to the Campbell Funeral Home, and the funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery here.

Virginia Pease Garnett was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on February 27, 1849. At the age of 18 years she moved to Iowa to make her home. On March 16, 1870, she was united in marriage to James A. Garnett, who preceded her in death, March 17, 1888. To this union were born six children.

The children are:

Clara, who died in infancy, on February 24, 1877; Ivan, her oldest son who died August 13, 1929; and four living children, Ambrose of Chicago, Elvin of Edinburg, Texas, Mrs. E. W. Seeley of Manchester, Ia., and Mrs. C. M. Graham of this city.

She also leaves to mourn her loss, five granddaughters, and one grandson, Arthur W. Graham, and his son Stuart, who is a great grandson. Mr. Graham, was formerly of Fairfield, and now lives at Austin, Minn.

Mrs. Garnett was united with the Methodist Episcopal church, in girlhood, and lived an active devoted Christian life. She was a very loving and devoted mother, centering her thoughts on her home and her church. She leaves many friends, who sympathize with the bereaved children in their hour of sorrow.
