"Death of Emit Shorts, a Well Known Citizen - Townville, March 23 - Mr Emit Shorts died at his home in this place, March 20 at 8:15 o'clock pm, after several years of illness. He has not been able to do any labor for the past two years. He was born in Richmond township, March 10, 1865. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Shorts, who were the parents of twelve children. Mr Shorts leaves a wife, three little boys, a mother, five brothers and four sisters, to mourn his loss. The people of Townville extend their heartfelt sympathy to the widow and her little ones. Mr Shorts was laid to rest in his last resting place in Townville cemetery Sunday, March 22. Mr A B Wilkinson preached the funeral sermon in the M E church and the pallbearers were Mr E Gillett, Mr B Barlow, Mr Zeph Boiles, Mr A B Hawthorne, Mr Ed Stevens and Mr Geo. Smith. The funeral was very well attended."

"South Richmond, March 26 - Emmet Shorts, who has been sick for so long with consumption of the lungs, died Friday evening at his home in Townville, where they moved a short time ago from this place. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the M E church at Townville. He is survived by a wife and three little boys. Emmet Shorts was a son of Jacob Shorts, who died four years ago. He has two sisters dead, Mrs Dora Kingsley, who died last summer at this place, and Mrs Ruby Reynolds, who died sometime ago. His mother and nine brothers and sisters are left to mourn. Four brothers are living in Grove City, and one brother, Homer, at this place, who expects to go the 1st of April to make his future home in Grove City. The sisters are Mrs Della Fox of Saegertown; Mrs Eva Wygant of Meadville; Mrs Alice Dobbins, of Lincolnville, and Mrs Effie Kingsley, of Portland, NY."
