Dr. F. M. Agnew, 81 years old, died at his home east of Makanda last Friday and his funeral was held Sunday.
He was born near Cincinnati, Ohio, came to Southern Illinois in boyhood, taught school at 17 and, studying medicine, graduated from Rush Medical College of Chicago. His 62 years of practice is said to set a records for this state, and during that time he "assisted the stork" 2512 times. For many years he practiced over a wide expanse of country.
Besides practicing medicine he was active in other ways, carrying on a large farm where he lived, preaching frequently and serving as clerk of the Clear Creek Baptist Association for over half a century. He was also a writer of decided ability.
Dr. Agnew married Miss Hattie Elmore who with two daughters and a son survives him.
