WINIFRED J. CRAWFORD, 70, RETIRED ACCOUNTANT
Winifred J. Crawford, 70, a retired accountant, died Tuesday at her Clarkston home of emphysema.
Mrs. Crawford was an accountant for 31 years. After retiring, she studied oil painting at Walla Walla Community College and the Valley Art Center at Clarkston. She served on the center's board of directors and had been on its picture display circuit for four years.
She was born July 27, 1919, to Robert and Myrl Motter Smith at Jerome, Idaho. She grew up at Gooding, Idaho, where she graduated from high school in 1933.
She attended Regional Vocational School at Weiser, Idaho, and later studied accounting at the American Academy of Accounting. She received her accounting degree at Los Angeles in 1942.
She married Francis Crawford Sept. 29, 1942, at Craigmont. They moved to Lewiston after World War II, where she worked as an accountant for various businesses. Mrs. Crawford enjoyed painting wildlife in its natural habitat, camping and taping old records.
She is survived by her husband at Clarkston; three daughters, Jeanette Allison of Honolulu, Iris Guidice of Spokane and Shirley Smith of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Ronald Pauls of Gooding; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A grandson and a brother, Robert Smith, died previously.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Funeral Home at Lewiston. The Rev. Rick Melin of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarkston will officiate and burial will follow at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens at Lewiston.
