Double Rites Held for Carsonville Men
Carsonville - Double rites were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. from the Jewell Funeral home for Levi Kinna, 86, and his son, Floyd Kinna, 47, with Rev. Leslie Collver of Carsonville Methodist church and Rev. Chester Dundas of Port Sanilac Methodist church officiating. Burial was made in Washington cemetery.
Levi Kinna was born October 5, 1864 in Ontario and had been a resident of Carsonville for 65 years. His son, Floyd Kinna was born in Carsonville on February 1, 1904.
Surviving both are Mrs. Fred Henman, Pontiac; Mrs. Eva Cuppen, Port Sanilac; Clifford Kinna, Carsonville; Orville Kinna, Port Huron; George Kinna, address unknown; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild of Levi Kinna.
Levi Kinna was the victim of his son, Floyd Kinna on Friday, when he shot his father with a single barrel shotgun and then later taking his own life. They were found in their home as suicide and murder victims by Clifford Kinna when he came home Friday evening. The elder Kinna was shot through the chest and Floyd was found on the floor in a pool of blood.
Henry Hacker, coroner who investigated, along with law enforcing officers stated that indications pointed to a murder and suicide.
