Rudolph J. "Rudy" DeLuties, Sr., age 81, of Lynn, died Friday at Union Hospital after a lengthy illness. He is the husband of the late Alphretta (Balson) DeLuties. Born and raised in Lynn, he is the son of the late Agostino and Concetta DeLuties.
He was educated in Lynn schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1942. He had lived in Lynn for the majority of his life. He also lived in Peabody for 7 years.
He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1947 as a member of the 68th US Naval Construction Battalion Company D. He served in the Pacific. He worked as a labor foreman and was with the Laborers Local 22 for 40 years. He was a member of the Shoemaker Post 345, Lynn. He loved carpentry and painting. He enjoyed cars. He loved dancing.
He is survived by 3 sons; Rudolph DeLuties Jr and his wife Susan of Lynn, Dennis K. DeLuties and his wife Linda of Lynn, and Bruce A. DeLuties and his wife Debbie of Lynn; 2 sisters Hazel Dufour and Gloria Jackson, both of Lynn; 6 grandchildren; Lisa Dewan and Keri Messina, both of Lynn, Derick DeLuties of Saugus, Damon DeLuties of Peabody and Katelyn Innes and Shelby Innes, both of Lynn, 5 great-grandchildren; Kayla, Mollie, Ryan, Nicholas and Devin. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
He is the brother of the late Dick DeLuties and Elaine Reed.
