OBITUARY-
AUSTIN -- The funeral for Phyllis Rae Oldenburg will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church with The Rev. William Natzke and Vicar Marc Freiberg officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Oldenburg, 70, of Austin, died Thursday (Feb. 25, 1999) of cancer at the Austin Medical Center.
Phyllis Rae Ihrke was born Jan. 4, 1929 in Winona County. She graduated from Austin High School in 1947 and married Otto Oldenburg on June 22, 1947. She was a teacher's assistant with emotionally disturbed children. She worked for Gerard and Austin public schools for more than 20 years. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Cerebral Palsy Center, the PTA, the Austin Humane Society and Miss Austin and Miss Minnesota pageants. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Derlen and Deven, both of Rochester; a daughter Dereen (Mrs. John) Ernst of Austin; her mother, Gladys Ihrke of Austin; two brothers, Dale of Austin and Keith of Blaine, Minn.; two sisters, Carole (Mrs. Blaine) Nobbs of Monticello, Minn., and Lois Johnson of Austin, and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and one hour before the service at the church.
