Born in Acton on Oct. 3, 1928, to Oliver Wendell Coy and Mary Nettie (Hicks) Coy, Bill grew up in Clark Township and graduated from Clark Township High School in 1946. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and attended Indiana Central College and Huntington College. He married Patricia Anne (Rund) Coy in 1954. She preceded him in death in 2010.
He retired from Arvin Automotive in Franklin after 22 years and later worked for Kokomo Grain in Edinburgh. Bill was a charter member and served as a deacon of Friendship Baptist Church in Franklin.
Survivors include his children, Jane (Thierno) Talla of Southport, Andy (Lisa) Coy of Ft. Myers, Fla., Joe (Lori) Coy of Greenwood, and John (Joni) Coy, also of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Our beloved "Billy" was a true original. To know him was to love him. He will forever be remembered for his positive outlook on life and his wry sense of humor. His unwavering dedication to his children and grandchildren will never be forgotten. We are enormously grateful for his life.
Rev. Fred Brown will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary And Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31) in Franklin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Friendship Baptist Church building fund, 1600 Westview Drive, Franklin, IN 46131.
