Cyril P. Roehrig

Cyril P. Roehrig, 88, of 1702 Coolidge St., New Holstein, died Wednesday evening, March 8, 2000 at the Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein where he resided the past one and one-half years.

He was born Oct. 10, 1911 in St. Anna, a son of the late Casper and Isabelle Dreifuerst Roehrig and attended school in St. Anna.

On Feb. 28, 1938, he married Adeline Schrage at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mt. Calvary. The couple celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries.

Cyril farmed the family homestead in the town of New Holstein until retiring in 1976 when they moved to New Holstein. He also worked at Kohler Co. and Arps Corp. for a number of years.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein and the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Adeline; six children, Janice (Charles) Bittner of Green Bay, Judy (Gerald) Pieper of Manitowoc, James (Shirley) Roehrig of New Holstein, Anne (Allan) Overby of Arvada, Colo., Paul (Margaret) Roehrig of New Holstein, Lois (Paul) Achter of New Holstein; 13 grandchildren, Mike (Liz) Bittner, Patrick Bittner, Daniel Pieper, David Pieper, Kelly (Dave) Casper, Troy (Stacy) Roehrig, Mindy and Becky Roehrig, Michelle (Eric) Jens, Mark Roehrig and fiancee, Tricia Hintz, Ryan Achter and friend, Elizabeth O'Connor, Kurt Achter and Danielle Overby. He is further survived by six great-grandchildren, Jenna and Brian Bittner, Gillan Winquest Pieper, Brett, Samantha and Calvin Casper; two brothers, Harold (Dorothy) Roehrig and Dennis (Vivian) Roehrig, both of St. Anna; and four sisters, Jean (Elroy) Mauer of New Holstein, Alyce Pethan of Kiel, Rita (Howard) Hipke of Park Forest, Ill. and Mae Klase of Franklin, and a brother-in-law, Walter Bartel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucille Bartel and two brothers-in-law, Robert Pethan and Charles Klase.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein with the Rev. Frank Weber officiating.

Entombment will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

Friends may call at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel, on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the funeral home on Monday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
