KERRVILLE - Mr. Joe H. Foy, 81, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, in a Kerrville hospital.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1926, in Henderson, Tenn., to C.M. Foy and Carrie Neal Hardeman Foy. He was a graduate of Freed Hardeman College, attended Georgia Institute of Technology while in the U.S. Navy and graduated fromVanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948 and from Vanderbilt University Law School with a J.D. in 1950. He was admitted to practice law in Tennessee and Texas in 1950.
He was the president of Houston Natural Gas Corporation from 1970 until the merger with InterNorth in 1985 to create Enron. He served on Enron's board of directors until 2000. He was a retired partner of Bracewell & Patterson, L.L.P. (now known as Bracewell & Giullani, L.L.P.). He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He married Martha Overall on May 28, 1949, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She survives, along with two children, Joe H.Jr. of Austin, Texas, and Melissa Foy and husband, Greg, of San Antonio, Texas; and two grandchildren, Timothy Andrew r and Carrie Elizabeth.
Memorial services for Mr. Foy will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Kerrville Church of Christ, with Mr. Greg Cummings officiating. Private burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.
