Daughter of Private Michael Cornwall of the 7th US Cavalry. Her mother was Hanna O'Sullivan Cornwall. Both parents were born in Ireland. She was 14 years old when she died. Cause of death was not given.

From the Sturgis Weekly Record of August 19, 1892: A very sad matter to chronicle is the death of Mamie Cornwall of Fort Meade, on Monday morning last, at nine o'clock. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs Michael Cornwall. Funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon, and was one of the largest ever held at the post. Deceased was a very bright and beautiful girl, and her loss is a severe one. Sympathy is generally extended.

Editor Note: during 1878, the 7th Cavalry was stationed at Fort Abraham Lincoln and Fort Rice, both forts located in Morton County, North Dakota.
