Mrs. Elma (Templin) Hirst, 85, pioneer school teacher of Reno County, passed away at Richmond, Kans., on March 14. She was born on Nov. 14, 1858 at Elizabeth City, Ind. Her husband, Geoerge Hirst died in 1915.

She was a sister of Olin Templin, former dean of Kansas University. She is survived by three sons, Jesse, Waren LeRoy, and George Ivan; one daughter, Mrs. Daisy Hedrick; 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She has five grandsons in service. Fred, Will and Sam Hirst were brothers-in-law of Mrs. Hirst. A funeral service was held at Richmond Thursday, then one at Partridge Methodist church Friday with Rev. W. B. Stevens officiating. A quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Anderson, Don Milliken and Mrs. C. L. Dixon sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Harriett Dixon was accompanist. Interment was in the Partridge cemetery.
