Mary Jane Rinker was the daughter of George Rinker and Nancy Houser, who had settled in Huntington County, Indiana. She married Charles Brown, son of Thomas Brown and Lydia Sparks of Wells County, Indiana, May 18, 1882, in Huntington County. Charlie and Mary Jane lived in various places in north-eastern Indiana - Huntington, Wells and Wabash Counties. In later years their home was in Union Township, Huntington County.

Mr. Brown has been dead 4 or 5 years. Surviving are children, Mrs. Nelllie Crist of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Rosa Wygant of Huntington Co., W. C.
