Britton, SD: The funeral for Alvin B. Anderson will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at First Lutheran Church of Britton. Visitation will be one hour preceding the funeral. Reverends Sara and Terrill Sorensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Nordland Cemetery, rural Rutland, ND.

Alvin passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton at the age of 78.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel, Britton.

Alvin Bernard Anderson was born December 28, 1931, at Britton, SD to Marstrand E. and Marie Christine (Giske) Anderson. He grew up in North and South Dakota. He later moved to Seattle, Washington and then lived in Anchorage, Alaska for several years.

Alvin eventually returned to South Dakota and the past few years had made his home with his sister, Hazel Holland of Britton. This past June, Alvin became a resident of Wheatcrest Hills.

Alvin's life long occupation was repairing clocks and watches. He was also very musical, and played the violin and musical saw. He played for many church services and over the years, had entertained at various health care centers. He had also played with the Blue Grass Gospel Group of Aberdeen several years ago. In addition to playing, Alvin also had a hobby of making violins out of yardsticks.

Preceding Alvin in death were his parents and a brother, Rodger Anderson.

He is survived by three sisters: Hazel Holland of Britton; Marvel Kidder of Eagle River, AK; Myrtle (Kennard) Pechuman of Spring Valley, WI; and seven nieces, nephews and their families.

Music for the funeral will be provided by Doris Olson, organist and Tom Farber, soloist. Casketbearers will be Keith Holland, Kent Holland, Karsen Holland, Preston Holland, Jared Holland and Gary Pechuman.
