She was a lifelong resident of Cartersville. Daughter of Hugh Payne* and Vera Waters Purcell. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Hendrix. She was of the Church of God faith. She served as President of the United Daughters of the Confederacy for two terms and served one term as the President of the Cassville Historical Society. She was also a member of the Pace Society of America, the Order of the Eastern Star Sonora Chapter 484, and the Bartow History Museum. Survivors include her parents, Vera and Edwin Purcell, and Hugh and Dot Payne; daughter, Alecia Hendrix; and brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Debbie Payne.
