Deacon Sandy Akin Jr., 84, of Columbia died Saturday, Sept. 1$, 2007, at NHC Hillview.
Services will be conducted at 11 am Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Friendship Missionary Baptist, 291 Wayne St, with Elder Gerald Davis as Eulogist.
Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation with the family will he Thursday from 6-8 pm at Bethel Church of God at 1186 Old Highway 99. The body will lie in-state Thursday at V.K. Ryan & Son Puneral Home until time of visitation.
V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Maury County, he was the son of the late Sandy Akin Sr. and the late Emma Green Akin. He attended Center Star Elementary School and College Hill High School. He was a well known farmer in the Green Mills Community. He was a member of the Bethel Church of God, Sanctified where he served on the Deacon's Board and as a Sunday school teacher.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Lillie E. Kinzer Akin, four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife Willie M. Howard Akin; sister Emmalene Stewart; foster son Charles Kinzer Jr; step-children John (Johnnie), Jean (Wendell), Monte (Bonita), Patricia and Jennifer; eight step-grandchildren; 16 step-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
