The death of Mrs. Martha Irene (nee Petersen) Eggerman of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK, occurred at her residence on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.  She was 88 years of age.

Martha was born on February 20, 1924, to Hans and Mary (nee Kimmen) Petersen at home on their farm near Annaheim, SK.  She was raised there and attended Arras Rural School.  After completing her Grade 8 education, Martha was employed as a housekeeper for various local families.  Eventually, she made a trip to British Columbia and California with her sister Margaret.

After returning home, Martha married John Eggerman on June 23, 1949, in Prince Albert, SK.  Following their marriage, they moved to a farm in the Englefeld district.  Three sons were born to them:  Eugene in 1951, Barry in 1955, and Lorne in 1965.  In 1982, Martha and John moved into Humboldt.  In 2000, due to failing health, John became a resident of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson.  Martha continued to live in their home until 2008, when she moved to Sunshine Manor in Watson.

In 2010, she became a resident of Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake temporarily until relocating to St. Mary's Villa, her home until the present.  Over the years,
Martha enjoyed beadwork, knitting, gardening, and fishing.  She also loved playing cards and taught all her grandchildren to play Schmear.  Her greatest pleasure was derived from being a dedicated wife, mother,  grandmother and homemaker, always striving to tend to the needs of her family.

Martha will be lovingly remembered by two sons and their families:  Eugene (Judy) Eggerman of Watson, Dave (Beth) Eggerman and children Kiara, Rylan and Connor, Joe (Raime) Eggerman and children Luke and Jake, Dale (Jennifer) Eggerman and son Kymer, Gene Eggerman (Glynnis McKenna), and Lisa Eggerman; and Barry (Brenda) Eggerman of Watson, Dean Eggerman and daughter Breann, Scott (Shirley) Eggerman and children Maysun and Harper, and Todd Eggerman; four sisters and one brother:  Margaret Petersen of Saskatoon; Elgar Petersen of Humboldt; Evelyn (Frank) Tarnowski of Bruno; Helen (Bob) Williams of Calgary, AB; and Marie (George) Lumley of Williams Lake, BC; sisters-in-law:  Jean Petersen of Lake Lenore; Margaret Petersen of Saskatoon; and Jeannette Petersen of Armstrong, BC; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was predeceased by her husband, John Eggerman; one son, Lorne Eggerman; parents, Hans and Mary (nee Kimmen) Petersen; and by three brothers:  Peter Petersen, Walter Petersen, and Joseph Petersen.

The Prayer Service for Martha was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, December 14, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., led by Nestor Trach and organist Kathy Phillips.  Scripture readers were Raime Eggerman and Shirley Eggerman.  The Funeral Mass was offered on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth.  Others taking part were:  Kiara Eggerman, crossbearer; Beth and Jennifer Eggerman, scripture readers; Aimee Eggerman, intentions; Breann, Rylan, Connor, Luke and Maysun Eggerman, giftbearers; Jeannie Renneberg, memorial table attendant.  Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Martha's life".  Active pallbearers were Dave, Joe, Dale, Gene, Dean and Scott Eggerman.  Interment followed at St. Augustine R.C. Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Mary's Villa Foundation or the St. Augustine Parish Building Fund.
