Paul "The Colonel" Dornan, 92 of Holdenville, Oklahoma died on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Paul was born on October 23rd, 1921 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Clarence and Hettie Dornan. Paul enjoyed living in California for many years where he owned a chain of service station and tire stores and a lumber yard. He also took great pride and pleasure in operating his own vineyard. He enjoyed working for many years as an Auctioneer where he earned the title of Colonel. Later he returned home to Oklahoma to be near family and friends. Making people laugh and fellowshiping with his church family was very important to Paul. Family gatherings and the holiday celebrations were such a special time to spend with Paul. His joy at the holidays was contagious and uplifting.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hettie Dornan, spouses Pat and Jewel, and brothers Floyd, Eual, Levi, Johnny at age 14, sisters Vera, Christine, Nerva, and Sybill at 15 months.
Survivors include his daughter, Lea Streetman and husband Randall of Sasakwa, brother AJ Dornan of Tuttle, grandchildren Tracy Preston and wife Beth of Reno, Nevada, Aleasha Ansel and husband David of Soldotna, Alaska, Tara "Baby Grand" Caldwell of Seattle, Washington, Amy Smith and husband Mark of Ada, and Steven Streetman of Norman, great-grandchildren Ashlea, Jacob, Cody Paul, Joshua, Elizabeth Grace, Zachariah, Elijah, and Rose Kathryn, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Special friends of the Holdenville Senior Nutrition Center and the Harvest Time Tabernacle Church family.
Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Harvest Time Tabernacle Church in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Pastor Jimmie Freeman will officiate. Pallbearers will be Roger Streetman, Gene Streetman, Steven Streetman, Zachariah Smith, Elijah Smith, and Mark Smith. Honorary bearers will be Jesse Blackburn, Edward Crump, Claud Clark, David Crump, Daniel Clark, Chaney Clark, and Kelly Blackburn. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
