Mrs. Ludwina Urban, 95, Topeka, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at a Topeka residential center. She was born March 1, 1908, in Antonino, the daughter of Paul and Anna Klaus Befort.

Mrs. Urban moved from Nevada, Mo., to Topeka in 1986. Mrs. Urban was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Society at the church and the Daughters of Isabella in Nevada, Mo.

She married Jacob A. Urban on Nov. 19, 1929, in Antonino. He died May 19, 1991.

Mrs. Urban also was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Jake and Paul Befort.

Surviving are four sons, Marvis Urban, DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Herman Urban, Denver, Cecil Urban, Carbondale, and James Urban, Loveland, Colo.; three daughters, Mildred Menke, Stratton, Colo., Maxine Erbert, Lakewood, Colo., and Ruby Mauer, Topeka; one brother, Herman Befort, Orange, Calif.; a sister, Esther Smoot, Viola, Ark.; 21 grand-children, 32 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Urban will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where rosaries will be recited by the Altar Society at 4 p.m. and the parish at 6:30 p.m.
